Since I am from Columbus, it is easy to forget how nice it can be sometimes.  On Saturday, Ben and I had a fun little afternoon in Columbus.   We started off by going to Palmer Home Thrift Store, which is by far my favorite local thrift store.  Next I took Ben to see the Tombigbee  River and the old river bridge downtown.  In high school,  some nights we would climb over the walls that blocked off the entrance to the bridge and walk around on the old bridge like rebels.  Now the bridge is open for all to enjoy,...

This past weekend, Ben and I went to Lake Charles to visit Kirby, Dawn, Danielle and Kyle.  It was a fun weekend filled with strawberry beer, better thrift stores, 2 sweet dogs, a super hero poet (really a poet who writes about super heros among other things),  lakes a plenty, great food and friends who live too far away.  When we got home, I was overjoyed to find these flowers waiting on me. This New Year's Eve, Ben and I attended the wedding of Bena Vedros and Jason McCain in Houma, Louisiana.  They are two of our really good friends and we are so happy that they got married!  After a night of celebration, we went to New Orleans on New Year's day.  Bena and Jason live in New Orleans and invited us for a huge sleepover at their apartment.  It was so much fun.  I think the pictures from New Orleans are appropriately dirty.

This past weekend, my husband and I drove to Houma, LA because his band, The Devil, You and Me had a gig at The Boxer and the Barrel.  It is always nice to see my friends who now reside in LA and of course to see my husband play the washtub bass but the drive takes forever.  About 5 and 1/2 hours to be exact. During this trip I made the most pleasant discovery, which made the drive quite delightful.  MPB (Mississippi Public Broadcasting) Radio archives past program airings into podcasts available for free on their website.  I have never...

A couple of weekends ago, I went wine tasting in Dahlonega, Georgia for my friend Katie Murphey's bachelorette party.  I had so much fun.  Dahlonega is very beautiful and the vineyards were amazing!  Since it is only an hour from Atlanta, I would suggest everyone make this trip.   Katie's Maid of Honor, Cristina Kinney,  did an amazing job of planning our weekend.  We stayed in the beautiful Spirit of the River cabin which was more than amazing.  It had a hot tub, direct river access, walking sticks and binoculars for your use, a screened in back porch with a fireplace...
