A couple of weekends ago, my sweet angel turned two and we had a puppy themed birthday party.  Since Liam spent his first birthday in the hospital and we had to cancel his party, I decided to go all out this year.  Puppies/dogs are his favorite right now, so it was settled.  I started planning the party about 3 months before so I could take my time planning, crafting and building doghouses.

I got the idea for these puppy invitations from Pinterest but I changed it up a...

Hope everyone had a great Easter this year.  The Hodge family sure did.  We had beautiful Spring weather and we spent most of the weekend outside working in our yard and chasing Liam around.  Having a two year old makes every holiday so much to celebrate as a family.  Here are a few photos from our Easter: We are really trying to limit the amount of sugar Liam eats and honestly I really think some parents go way overboard with Easter baskets.  I like to keep it simple.  I filled the eggs with Cheddar Bunnies, graham crackers, and I did slip...

Last week, Liam had an appointment with his cardiologist in Jackson and we found out he will have to have another heart cath in October.  We were really upset, so we decided to cheer ourselves up and went to the zoo.  Although the Jackson Zoo is small and needs a makeover, it was a really good time.  Oh and please ignore his mismatched outfit, he threw up all over his clothes on the way to Jackson and this is a back up outfit. :)

Liam’s Birth Story

I wanted to have Liam naturally.  I took the childbirth classes at the hospital, read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and even watched The Business of Being Born like 3 times.  I really thought I could do it.  Since I was having high blood pressure issues, my doctor decided to induce me a week early using Pitocin.  At 39 weeks I was huge and miserable and just agreed with him.  As soon as my Pitocin fueled contractions started I knew that my doctor clearly hated me (not really).  And...

  1.  I really like looking at homes in my neighborhood online, once they are listed for sale.  I do it all of the time. 2.  I would be a stay at home mom, like this minute if I could afford it.  I cherish my weekends at home with Liam and Ben.  I love Liam so much and miss him terribly while I'm at work. Being a working mom is one of the hardest things I have ever done. 3.  I seriously wish that my close friends and I could start a...

I am not sure if I have ever mentioned it before but I have 7 nieces and nephews, 6 of which are under the age of 6.  So when Christmas time comes around I have to be creative in order to stay within my overall Christmas budget.  This year staying within my budget is especially important since we have our own little one on the way.  With the exception of my niece Kaitlyn who is a bit older than the others, I decided to get everyone else the same thing this...

This year I made my mom this little decorative tray for her bedside table or bathroom.  The tray I choose to use was already painted gold.  I used paint markers and acrylic paint to paint the flowers and initials.  Once everything was dry I covered it in varnish.  It took a couple of days to finish because some of the paint markers were oil based and took longer to dry.  But overall it was pretty easy to make and my mom loved it.

I hope...

Living in a college town can be quite tiresome.  Knowing that Starkville is a transitional place for most of its residents doesn't make it easier when they leave.  Two of my best friends moved to Lake Charles, LA a week ago today.   Although I know it is for the best, Kirby and Dawn feel like family now and it is hard not to be sad.   They are two of the most intelligent, supportive, kind people that I have ever met and I hope they know they are...
