Prairie Arts Festival 2010

This past Saturday was The Prairie Arts Festival in West Point, Mississippi and it was a blast.  I really enjoyed my first arts festival experience.  Overall I would say our booth was a success but we didn’t sell all of our items.  For whatever reason, people seemed to be buying more yard art and polka dotted painted trash cans.  Also our booth was really close to the gospel stage which made it hard to talk to customers or to avoid the day long headache associated with standing near speakers.  But those were my only complaints.  I loved being a vendor, meeting interesting people and spending time with my good friends selling our handmade items.  It still blows my mind that people like my journals and notebooks enough to buy them.  I am so proud of Cory, Nikki and myself.

Hey! I’m Emily and I found your blog through etsy when I was looking for shops in Starkville. I have been looking for some crafty folks here in Starkville, so I was thrilled to find your blog.

I missed your booth at the festival (I guess I missed that handy vendor sign). Are you going to add the notebooks you didn’t sale to etsy? I really want to get one! SInce I missed the chance to meet you at the festival, I thought I would go ahead and introduce myself.

Sorry for the late reply. I am going to add some of them to my Etsy but a local shop, The Sundial has asked me if I would like to sell them at their store. I am really excited about selling them locally! Which notebook did you like and I can go ahead and add it to Etsy? I don’t think they will be at The Sundial for a couple of more weeks since the owner is out of town currently. I am glad you like my notebooks and I am glad their are more crafty people in Starkville.

“For whatever reason, people seemed to be buying more yard art and polka dotted painted trash cans.”
You have to take into account that the festival WAS in West Point, Mississippi, which might be the butthole of the universe. People tend to have bad taste there.

I’m so glad that your notebooks were a hit! Apparently not all people at the festival had bad taste. 🙂
